Ask Jen: What's the difference between Tinted Autumn and Toned Autumn?

I've been getting a lot of questions about the differences between certain seasons. So, I thought I'd take the time to address each set in its own post for your reference. In the new 4x4 color system, there are now 16 colors instead of the 12 you may be familiar with. And a couple seasons that you may be familiar with or have analyzed yourself as, may seem missing. Soft Autumn is one of those seasons. When looking into the Soft Autumn, you may discover all kinds of terminology you are not familiar with. Toned Autumn, Tinted Autumn, Light Autumn, Soft Autumn Light, and Soft Autumn Deep. So, what's what? Soft Autumn in the 12 season color system meant that you were warm, earthy and soft. You really weren't a WARM autumn and you weren't deep. But you were definitely an autumn. So... soft autumn it is! In the new 4x4 color system, Soft Autumn was split into 2 seasons. Soft Autumn Light and Soft Autumn Deep.

Soft Autumn Light (aka Tinted Autumn or Light Autumn)

You are a tinted autumn if your eyes are earthy but not deep. You are the lightest of the autumns. Your hair may be a rich earthy blonde or golden brown. Your eyes will be hazel green or light golden brown. You may have been mistaken for a spring in the past but your coloring is too rich to be a spring. The lighter and brighter colors of the original soft autumn color palette became the Tinted Autumn color palette. They are designed to complement the "light" autumn. Soft Autumn Deep (aka Toned Autumn)

You are a toned autumn if your eyes are deep brown. Your hair may be a rich earthy blonde or golden brown. Your eyes are earthy and deep. You may be mistaken at times for a deep autumn, but you are not as deep as that. Your overall coloring is soft, deep and golden. The deeper and muted colors of the original soft autumn color palette became the Toned Autumn color palette. They are designed to complement the "soft and deep" autumn. Does this sound like you or someone you know? Visit the Toned Autumn main page to learn more about this season.
