Oscars 2018: The color Jennifer Garner should have worn?

For the Oscars 2018, Jennifer Garner wore a stunning bright royal blue dress. It really was a gorgeous dress. The shape was flattering on her and the color was breathtaking.
The color was beautiful, but I did not love it on her.
I tweeted about this during the red carpet and wow, did people have some things to say! Sheesh. I said it was too bright and people flocked from everywhere to either tell me I was dead wrong or completely right.
It was kinda crazy how much attention that 1 tweet got, but it inspired me to write a post about it explaining my color theory on this.
Plus, it's fun and if you like this kind of comment, let me know! Comment below. If you like it, I'll post something fun like this every week.
So, back to Jennifer... here are a few photos of her in more natural coloring...

Based on the photos, I see of her, she seems to have cool undertones. I really haven't seen any photos of her that makes me think she's golden and warm. With that said, it's not the hue that's the problem with this dress. It's the chroma... the brightness.
Take a look at the photos above again. And take a look at this one...

She is soft. Her eyes have this softness about them. Her hair looks like it is a medium ashy brown. She doesn't really have an intensity to her coloring to support that intense color.
That bright color is way too intense on her.
So... I took the liberty of dressing her in colors that would be more flattering on her...
What do you think?
I'm kinda loving her in the plum and the grey-blue.
So, here's the thing. She probably felt amazing in that dress. She wore it for a reason. She wanted to stand out. She was presenting that night, and a power color is very appropriate. She also, I believe, wanted to make a statement that she was doing just fine... f**k you very much Ben.
She really did shine, regardless if the color was too bright.
It matters how you feel in a color, not just if it's technically "right" on you. If you love a color and you feel amazing in it. Then wear it. Who cares what other people think.
I'm only sharing my opinion to help you understand the idea of a color being too bright on someone who is "soft"... but please know, I am not telling you that you shouldn't wear a color you love. Either you wear a color you know flatters you and walk tall and confident. Or you wear a color that you love and you feel amazing in it... and walk tall and confident. The end result is the same.
Wear what you love. Love what you wear.
Jen
