While You Train To Become A Color Consultant
Upon completion of this program, you will be able to:
- > Accurately analyze a person’s skin tone, undertone, depth and chroma to determine their most flattering color palette for clothing
- > Demonstrate digital draping techniques and/or in-person draping techniques, using the Your Color Style methodology, to accurately assess a client’s color palette
- > Demonstrate the three steps of the Your Color Style methodology
- > Clearly explain to the client the principals of color analysis, helping them to understand why certain colors enhance their appearance
- > Provide personalized color recommendations based on client’s personality, preferences and needs
- > Produce a digital document that shares the digital or in-person draping for that client along with specific color recommendations

How To Become a Color Analyst
with Your Color Style
Step by Step
Step 1: Access your online color analysis course
When you sign up for the Your Color Style Color Consultant Certification program, you will have immediate access to the online course, which includes your step-by-step tutorials and digital materials.
You may complete the curriculum at your own pace. Your enrollment gives you unlimited access to the content for one year. You may continue access, after one year, with your annual license fee.
Step 2: Receive Your Color Analysis Kit
When you sign up for the color analysis training, your Color Analysis Kit will ship to you worldwide, 7 days after your date of registration. Your kit will include each of the 10 color fans and 10 drawstring bags. A $670 value. (The image shown is slightly out of date. We have new color fans for the Warm color types.) PLUS a set of our color analysis drapes ($127 value).
We believe it's important to have access to the colors as you learn about color and color analysis.
You can choose to keep the color fans for your reference or sell them to your clients.
Step 3: Join the Community
All students are invited to the private YCS Color Consultant Facebook group. This is where you can network with other certified consultants, ask questions, post your assignments for feedback and eventually post your client's photos for guidance. It's also a great place to learn from other members' postings. We are a learning community and are always working on our craft.
Step 4: Join the Live Monthly Training Calls
This is optional but highly recommended. During the monthly live calls, we do further color analysis training on key topics plus answer student questions. We also review student submissions, which is foundational to your learning. If you are unable to attend a live session, you should plan on watching at least one recording.
Step 5: Submit Your First Assignment
Your first assignment will be a color analysis of YOU. You can choose to do an online color analysis or drape yourself for in-person color analysis. This takes the pressure off of finding volunteer clients while you are learning. You will follow our step-by-step videos and template to create a professional e-book. Once you complete this step, you will have the confidence and skills to complete your final assignments.
Step 6: Submit Your Final Assignments
Your final assignment will include any recommended changes to your first assignment, plus an online or in-person color analysis of two volunteer clients. Your three submissions will be reviewed by Jen Vax.
Step 7: Receive Your Digital Color Consultant Certificate
Upon successful completion of your assignments and assessment, you will receive your digital certificate that you can print or use on your website.
Yes! This certification program is accredited by the Association of Image Consultants International (1.0). When you complete this course and receive your certification, you will be eligible to receive 1.0 CEUs. You will be required to submit a Participant Training Evaluation (PTE) and have successfully submitted your 3 assignments.

Meet Your Instructor
Jen Vax is the founder of Your Color Style and your instructor and mentor throughout your training. She is the international best selling author of "That's My Color: Discover Your 5 Signature Colors To Transform Your Life" and "Great with Gray". Her mission is to help women express their true authentic self through color, creativity and entrepreneurship.
Your Color Style Color Consultant students can ask questions and get feedback through the private Facebook group and live calls. PLUS, Jen and her team are available to answer any questions related to your color analysis clients for as long as your license is active.
Just in case you're wondering how I'm qualified to help you grow your business... let me give you the "short" version of my business history.
In 1998, I decided I wanted to learn how to make money online. I learned that people look for information, more than anything else. Following some guidelines from a course I purchased, I published my first e-book titled "How To Heal Your Adult Acne Naturally." Odd, I know but successful. I was earning over $1k a month with just that one e-book.
That topic was boring to me and I decided to create a business around my interests. I created "How To Make Roman Shades" which grew into RomanShadeSupplies.com and SimpleSewingProjects.com. I taught people how to make window treatments through online courses and videos. 🙂
By 2011, I had a 1200 sq ft warehouse, with employees and tons of inventory. We were even featured in Martha Stewart magazine.
I sold this business in 2011.
In 2013, OutfitIdeas4You.com was launched. This was, at first, just a blog to play with my own personal exploration of seasonal color analysis and style. Since then, I've founded my own color system, designed the color palettes and created products... which is now Your Color Style™.
How did I do this? I have 20+ years of online marketing expertise. It does help that I have a graphic design and fine arts degree and background.
I've learned what's most important when starting out. I've learned how to market effectively online. I've learned what not to bother with. I've learned (and still learning) how to run a business... not just be self employed.
I've made MANY expensive mistakes along the way. You don't have to...

Yes. If you would like to go through our color analysis training course without the benefits of the full program, you can purchase the course here.
What materials do I need to complete this program?
You will need Adobe Photoshop and Google Drive. We will be using Photoshop to color adjust the photographs and to perform the virtual draping. We will be using Google Slides to create our client e-books. You will need a GMAIL account to access Google Drive and its tools.
What if I have zero experience with color analysis or with business?
Every student that enters this program comes with a different level of experience. There are some that have zero experience with color analysis and business. Some that have existing businesses and are adding color analysis to their services. Some have limited to computer skills.
No matter what your level of experience, you will be successful in this program.
How long does this program take to complete?
In a perfect world, with no disruptions, you can complete your assignments and become certified within a week.
On average, our students take about 3 to 6 weeks to complete the program.
Some have taken as long as a year.
How long do I have to complete the program?
You have one year to complete the program. If you need to continue after one year, you may pay your annual license fee of $500.
Do you offer a payment plan?
Yes. When you select the Enroll Button, you will see your options.
What is included with my enrollment fee?
Unlimited access to the curriculum, the digital resources, a complete set of color fans, access to the private Facebook group, monthly training calls, ongoing mentorship and feedback.
You will have access to the above for one year.
What is the annual license fee?
The annual license fee is $500. This fee continues your active participation as a certified Your Color Style Color Consultant.
The annual fee gives you continued access to the digital materials, any updates, your trade discount, online calls, access to the Facebook group and mentoring.
Can I learn in-person color analysis?
Yes. Your Color Style is primarily an online color analysis methodology. However, we have several consultants that applied their training to in-person color analysis. We address in-person color analysis on a regular basis.
What materials are provided to me?
After a 7 day grace period from when you enrolled, you will receive an email with instructions to order your set of 10 color fans. You will only have to pay for shipping.
You will also have access to the complete online curriculum, all 12 color guides, digital color palettes, recorded monthly live trainings, e-book templates and draping guide.
What other fees will I owe Your Color Style?
There are no other fees you will owe Your Color Style outside of the enrollment fee and the annual license fee.
Will I receive a trade discount on Color Fans?
All certified Franchise color consultants will be set up to receive a 25% trade discount on all color fans.
Do you teach me how to build a website and market my business?
I do not teach you how to build a website, but I will share with you resources to help you get started. You will not need a web site if you become an In-House Color Analyst.
Upon request, I will offer web site reviews, online marketing suggestions, best business practices, how to handle client scenarios and more.
