The 12 Color Types of Your Color Style®
There are 12 color types within the Your Color Style® system.
While that number may sound similar to the 12-season color system, our approach is completely different — it’s based on color theory, not seasonal categories.
Each color type is created by combining three key characteristics:
Depth, Undertone, and Chroma.
Together, they define your unique color harmony and determine which colors make you look vibrant, confident, and authentically you.

Below, you’ll find descriptions of all 12 color types — each linked to a detailed page that shows you what your palette looks like and how to wear it beautifully.
Cool Color Types
Bright Cool Light (BCL)

You are bright cool light if you wear bright clear chroma colors best. Dusty muted tones will drain you. You have cool undertones and you have light hair, eyes and skin. All 3 values need to be true to be considered light. Your dominant feature is likely light (depth). You look great in light cool pinks and sky blues.
Bright Cool Medium (BCM)

You are bright cool medium if you wear bright clear chroma colors best. Dusty muted tones will drain you. You have medium dark hair, or medium dark eyes or skin. Only one value needs to be true to be medium in depth. You have cool undertones. Your dominant feature is likely cool (temperature). You look great in bright magenta pinks and bright royal blues.
Bright Cool Deep (BCD)

You are bright cool deep if you wear bright clear chroma colors best. Dusty muted tones will drain you. You have very dark hair, or very dark eyes or skin. Only one value needs to be true to be deep in depth. You have cool undertones. Your dominant feature is likely bright (chroma). You look great in hot pinks, white and bright jewel tones.
Soft Cool Light (SCL)
You are soft cool light if you wear slightly soften colors best. Sharp bright colors will over power you. You have cool undertones and you have light hair, eyes and skin. All 3 values need to be true to be considered light. Your dominant feature is likely light (depth). You look great in light cool pinks and light blues.
Soft Cool Medium (SCM)
You are soft cool medium if you wear soft, slightly muted colors best. Sharp bright colors will over power you. You have medium dark hair, or medium dark eyes or skin. Only one value needs to be true to be medium in depth. You have cool undertones. Your dominant feature is likely soft (chroma). You look great in grey-blue and mauve.
Soft Cool Deep (SCD)
You are soft cool deep if you wear slightly soften colors best. You can wear some brighter colors but sharp bright jewels are too strong on you. You have very dark hair, or very dark eyes or skin. Only one value needs to be true to be deep in depth. You have cool undertones. Your dominant feature is likely deep (depth). You look great in dark plums and deep grey-green.
Warm Color Types
Bright Warm Light (BWL)
You are bright warm light if you wear bright clear chroma colors best. Dusty muted tones will drain you. You have warm undertones and you have light hair, eyes and skin. All 3 values need to be true to be considered light. Your dominant feature is likely light (depth). You look great in peach, coral and warm pink.
Bright Warm Medium (BWM)
You are bright warm medium if you wear bright clear chroma colors best. Dusty muted tones will drain you. You have medium dark hair, or medium dark eyes or skin. Only one value needs to be true to be medium in depth. You have warm undertones. Your dominant feature is likely warm (temperature). You look great in bright tomato red and olive green.
Bright Warm Deep (BWD)
You are bright warm deep if you wear bright clear chroma colors best. Dusty muted tones and pastels will drain you. You have very dark hair, or very dark eyes or skin. Only one value needs to be true to be deep in depth. You have warm undertones. Your dominant feature is likely deep (depth). You look great in bright tomato red and deep earthy tones.
Soft Warm Light (SWL)
You are soft warm light if you wear slightly soften colors best. Your color palette is very similar to bright warm and light. The only difference between the two color palettes is the brightest colors in the BWL color palette have been slightly softened with white for your color palette. You have warm undertones and you have light hair, eyes and skin. All 3 values need to be true to be considered light. Your dominant feature is likely light (depth). You look great in peach, apricot and coral.
Soft Warm Medium (SWM)
You are soft warm medium if you wear soft, slightly colors and earth tones best. Your color palette is very similar to bright warm and medium. The only difference between the two color palettes is the brightest colors in the BWM color palette have been slightly softened with black for your color palette. You have medium dark hair, or medium dark eyes or skin. Only one value needs to be true to be medium in depth. You have warm undertones. Your dominant feature is likely warm (temperature). You look soft marigold and terracotta.
Soft Warm Deep (SWD)
You are soft warm deep if you wear slightly soften colors best. Your color palette is very similar to bright warm and deep. The only difference between the two color palettes is the brightest colors in the BWD color palette have been slightly softened with black for your color palette. You have warm undertones and very dark hair, or very dark eyes or skin. Only one value needs to be true to be deep in depth. You have warm undertones. Your dominant feature is likely deep (depth). You look great in burnt oranges and deep earthy tones.
