5 Ways to Wear the Color Palette of the Month - January 2023

This month’s color palette has something for everyone. Our headliner colors, Samoan Sun and Midnight look great together and as part of other looks. Warmer gals will enjoy wearing Samoan Sun, especially if your coloring is on the light and soft side. The color has a creaminess to it, and its softness makes it a good choice to wear with deeper shades and saturated neutrals. However, it's not a color I would choose for a monotone head-to-toe look. On the other hand, Midnight is a rich universal color that will look good on most people. Pair it with cool chocolate or with warm rust for a sumptuous combination. It is a color that has the power to stand on its own in a monotone look, or as a tone-on-tone look.

Midnight looks fabulous in fabrics with texture and/or sheen. In this look, we’ve paired it with an indulgent neutral/cool chocolate. This look could be dressed up with heels or even brought down with sneakers. You could forego the necklace and rock a statement pair of earrings too.

Samoan Sun will look great in textured fabrics, like a nubby sweater. Plaid skirts and pants are big right now and pairing Samoan Sun with a design that contains a little yellow can be very cohesive. Camel is the perfect complement to this creamy yellow shade.

Pair Midnight with colors like Blue Bird and Blue Grey for a tone-on-tone look. Tonal looks are a version of the monotone look that has been so popular recently. Since the color is super rich, it’s easy to find shades a little lighter and much lighter to pull off this look.

Colored pants are everywhere! This is a great chance to use colors in your palette in something other than a top or sweater. Look for colored denim, velour, suede, leather, and corduroy options. These can be part of a monotone look, a column, or as a complement to a print. Keep your shoes in the same color tone or neutral. Have fun!

Feeling cold this January? Add some fur! Look at all of the beautiful colors in fur coats and outerwear scarves. This is a great chance to pop in a bold color that you may not want to wear head to toe, or as the perfect accessory for a monotone look.
