Jewelry Guide For Each Color Type

Jewelry Guide For Each Color Type

One of the many questions I receive is what types of jewelry should I wear for my color type? What metals are best? Are there any metals or jewels I should avoid? In this post, I have outlined for you a guideline you can use when shopping for jewelry. And in case you didn't know, I have an amazing online jewelry shop. The images I share with you are pieces of jewelry I sell, so you will see a link with each image in case you'd like to see more details and purchase it. If you don't know your color type, please take the quiz to find out what types of colors look best on you.

General jewelry guidelines

First, I'm going to share with you some general guidelines on choosing your jewelry. And then I will share specific examples for each color type because you have more flexibility than these general guidelines. Oh, and by the way, I will never tell you to avoid a piece of jewelry. If you love it and it makes you feel good, you should absolutely wear it.

If you are bright...

Wear shiny metals and bright jewels.

If you are soft...

Wear matte metals like brushed silver, antique gold and dull finishes.

If you are warm...

Wear gold and warm toned jewels.

If you are cool...

Wear silver and cool toned jewels.

Based on the above descriptions, you can make the following assumptions on what types of jewelry to wear:

Bright & Warm = bright gold with bright stones

Bright & Cool = shiny silver with bright cool stones

Soft & Warm = antique gold with rich warm stones

Soft & Cool = brushed or antique silver with cool stones
