    • I have light skin, dark/army green/hazel eyes, and 80% white hair. I don’t know what my natural hair color is, since I have been messing with it since me teens and started turning white around age 20. I am not sure how to answer the first question.

Since your hair is mostly white and your eyes sound medium. Choose medium

    • I recently paid for an online color analysis with another stylist and she gave me a very muted “True Summer” palette. I was really confused because many of the colors were really unflattering on me. I guess I’m technically muted, but most muted colors seem to wash me out. Your response to the other bright/light/cool question made a lot of sense: “If they were also muted you’d get greyed light colors which don’t really do anything for you. Most people who are light need a little brightness.”

Why is it that typical color analysis theory seems to get this wrong?

I’m so glad my explanation helped you. Seasonal color analysis does not offer training in color theory. So many well meaning consultants miss these nuances and bucket you in a season. This is one of the many reasons Your Color Style was created.

    • Hi Jen

I have salt and pepper hair and dark blue eyes with a yellow sunburst around the pupil. I think I’m deep but not sure. My skin is neither warm or cool or rather, it’s both. Could I be medium?

      Hi Kate

If your hair is mostly dark with salt, up to 50/50 – I would choose deep If your hair tipping over to more salt than deep, you may want to choose medium

It is very common for people to not be obviously warm or cool. That doesn’t mean you have both undertones. You will still lean one way. You sound like you are cool. You are likely BCM or BCD

    • I selected “light” in step 1 of the quiz, and then “warm” in step 2. It automatically takes me to bright, warm, and light and doesn’t give me the option of soft, warm, and light. Why is that?

The colors in the BWL palette are already softened with white. If they were also muted you’d get greyed light colors which don’t really do anything for you. Most people who are light need a little brightness. It doesn’t mean that you can always wear the brightest colors. Often these feel like too much. But the lighter colors and slightly darker colors will look great on you. Soft and warm colors are very earthy and really look best on someone with the same level of earthiness.
